We all have a natural capacity for and interest in feeling a state of balance and competence in our everyday life. Yet sometimes our history and circumstances interfere with our ability to manage as skillfully as we would like.
When I was working full time as a psychotherapist, I trusted that therapy provided the means for patients to access their natural healing ability and move towards balance and wellness. Now that I have very limited openings for new patients for individual therapy, I'm confident that the classes I offer in mindfulness and meditation do that too, creating the conditions for people to develop new ways of relating to thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. In just 8-weeks, many participants report greater ease and well-being, a renewed awareness of experience and the causes and conditions that create and sustain suffering AND that they have some capacity to influence. Which is to say, we CAN manage our attitude and focus of attention, even in the face of external conditions we have very little capacity to control. As a certified teacher in both Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, I generally offer classes 3 sessions a year. *** I am offering both MBSR & MBCT for Depression & Anxiety Winter 2024 (February start), both as live in-person classes. |
