People come to psychotherapy because they are uncomfortable. As a clinical psychologist, I am fully engaged with creating a therapeutic environment that is collaborative and supports every client on their way to greater health, happiness, safety, and ease in life. Often this involves inviting both self-awareness and self-acceptance, as well as developing skills and resources to change in desired directions. I have an integrative approach that draws on several theoretical models depending on the unique needs and interests of each client. Earlier in my career, the theories that I embraced included humanistic, relational, cognitive, and feminist orientations. While these still resonate strongly in my work, more recently my theoretical home is in what has been called ‘the third wave’ of cognitive behavioral therapy. These approaches emphasize mindfulness and acceptance, while also guiding people in becoming more intimately aware of what they care about and how to manifest that caring in everyday life choices. I am also fully trained as an EMDR clinician.
My specialties include relationship issues, health and behavioral psychology, substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood regulation. |
Practice OverviewYou may sense that something is 'off' in your life, or that you simply feel a need for change. Part of my charge as a psychotherapist is to help you identify what is and is not working in your life, and to help you develop the skills to move toward what you want and away from what you don't want.
